The Parable of the Mustard Seed
18 Then He said, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it?19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.”
Throughout my travels, I like to photograph birds. Shot in Hokkaido during the bitter winter, I see the birds carefreely resting upon the branches. Where shall they rest if there are no trees? Where will trees come from if they are no seeds?
And that is like the mustard seed. Though small and insignificant, when planted, it grows into a large tree providing shelter and rest for many. Jesus was the promised seed. In John 12:24, He came humbled as a man and was sowed and broken that we may enjoy the true kingdom of God - righteousness, peace and joy.
